SATO UNITED

Veterinarians Coalition

Our goal is to ensure that a lack of funds never means a lack of medical care. Our partner vets are an essential part of the Sato United family, helping us bridge the gap between Puerto Rico and a forever home.

A Partnership for Health and Hope

We believe that the best way to save lives is to work together. Our Coalition Veterinarians are more than just doctors—they are vital partners in the Sato United mission. They have stepped up to provide essential vetting services at discounted fees because they believe that every dog should be flown responsibly and medical costs should not be a barrier to a dog flying safely. When you visit a Sato United partner vet, you are working with a professional who understands the unique needs of rescue dogs and the urgency of our mission.

Vetting FAQS

  • $350 – this fee is paid in full directly to the coalition veterinarian on your first visit and is the responsibility of the rescuer/guardian/foster/owner of the dog.

  • Our coalition fee covers the essential "Freedom Flight" checklist; Physical examination by a licensed veterinarian, Vaccines, 4DX, CBC/Chem 17, Spay/Neuter up to 60lbs all performed/administered by a licensed veterinarian. If a dog requires treatment for pre-existing conditions or medical needs outside of this specific list, the rescuer is responsible for those additional costs directly with the clinic.

  • Yes. You are welcome to use your own licensed veterinarian to complete the required vetting.

    • Protocol Adherence: Your veterinarian must strictly follow the Sato United Medical Protocol (including all specific tests, vaccinations, and the quarantine period) to qualify for a flight.

    • Documentation: All records, including the 4DX, bloodwork (CBC/Chem 17), and health certificates, must be submitted to our team for review prior to your flight date.

    • Financial Responsibility: If you use a non-coalition veterinarian, you will be responsible for their standard rates. Our exclusive discounted pricing is only available through our partner clinics.

  • Yes! We encourage you to join us and have a measurable role in reducing the overpopulation of Satos on the island by ensuring every dog departs healthy and sterilized.

We need more local veterinarians to help us build a large sustainable coalition. If your clinic is interested in supporting the rescue community through discounted "Flight-Ready" vetting packages, we want to hear from you.

Together, we can ensure that medical costs never ground a dog who is ready to fly.

Note to Rescuers: The Sato United protocol is a standardized package offered at a set, discounted rate. Any diagnostic testing, medications, or procedures required beyond this defined list will be billed at the clinic’s discretion and remain the responsibility of the individual rescuer.
