If there's one thing I learned from losing my home and years of my organization's progress to Hurricane Maria, it's that proactivity is the fiercest punch you could throw.
That is the kind of thinking we've brought to our Operation Sato program, which seeks to disrupt the sato overpopulation crisis in Puerto Rico through systemic interventions that attack the root of the problem: PREVENTING the birth of unwanted litters and the transmission of disease through spay/neuter and vaccination.
And it's the kind of thinking we're relying on this hurricane season to keep our satos safe.
Hurricane season officially began on June 1st. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted that the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will see "above average" storm activity, with a possible 13-19 named storms on the horizon.
But if we are forced to fly blind, we will fly prepared. And I mean that literally.
Thanks to some generous partners who understand the urgency of flying satos off the island and executing as many Operation Sato appointments as possible before the deadly weather starts, we have an opportunity to MATCH $85,000 in donations over the next several weeks.
Mission Possible has always been about taking a one-two punch approach to rescue: pairing adoptions alongside crucial preventative health care. We now have the opportunity to act on this approach again, with a July 5th Freedom Flight and another round of Operation Sato. BEFORE disaster strikes. I am calling on my corner now to raise your gloves against these storms alongside me.
WILL YOU MAKE A MATCHED DONATION TODAY TO KEEP THE SATOS SAFE THIS HURRICANE SEASON?
This will be our twentieth Mission Possible. That name comes from my personal mantra: "Impossible is nothing."
In gratitude and strength,
Chrissy Beckles
