Champ
Champ took his Freedom Flight on July 5th, 2020. Thank you to all of his Foster From Afar donors for helping us change his life forever.
When we first rescued Champ back in December, we were not sure he would survive the night. He was emaciated from years of neglect and dangerously dehydrated. But even though his eyes were sunken and downcast, we knew that he was not ready to give up. We rushed him to emergency veterinary care. Not only did Champ live through the night but two days later on Christmas Day, he was eating and drinking so well on his own that we were able to take him off of his IV. In addition to being severely malnourished, Champ was also suffering from a TVT (a sexually transmitted, albeit treatable, form of cancer). But true to his name and sato nature, Champ persevered and slowly gained weight and strength. His spunky personality began to shine and he showed us just how big of a mush he was.
Thanks to your support, Champ caught a ride on Mission Possible 11, where he was the very last dog to get unloaded from the plane. As soon as he came out of his crate, Champ seemed to know that he was surrounded by love and that all of his dreams were coming true. With his tail wagging nonstop, Champ marched proudly out the door to meet his forever family. Now, Champ has a huge backyard in NJ to call his own, along with a loving family who knows that they have a superstar in their presence. You can follow along with this special boy on his very own Instagram account: @champ_the_sato.
