Pita

your support as a ‘foster from afar’ will help change this sato’s life forever.

Pita did not make her rescue easy on our founder Chrissy last spring on Dead Dog Beach. Sunburnt and covered in ant bites (plus a few bites from Pita herself), Chrissy finally got her hands on this wiggle worm. Of course, her tiny tail started wagging immediately afterwards as if her shenanigans had all been a funny game. Pita is a sweet little chihuahua…once she gets to know you. Unfortunately, she has clearly suffered abuse at the hands of humans and it takes a long time to earn her trust, which makes meeting prospective adopters no walk in the park. She has a long-term foster family in Puerto Rico where she is loved and cared for, but with a decade ahead of her, we are now faced with a lifetime of expenses for Pita.

In exchange for any gift of $24 or more, you’ll receive a special digital postcard. You can print it for yourself to show off your foster dog or give it to a loved one as a gift to let them know that a grateful sato was fostered in their honor. We’ll also keep you in the loop of Pita’s progress. Just like an in-person foster, you’ll be one of the first to know if we can find a very special family who are willing to work with Pita and her needs.

*Please note that Pita has very specific behavioral needs and will only be adopted to experienced owners. If you are interested in adopting Pita please email our adoption team at adoption@thesatoproject.org and we would be happy to discuss her requirements with you. Please be sure to put ‘Interested in adopting Pita’ in the subject line.

If you prefer to pay via check, please make payable to The Sato Project and mail to 130 Water St. Brooklyn, NY 11201. Thank you!
