We are actively seeking new foster families both in Puerto Rico and along the East Coast.

Fostering is one of the most valuable ways you can help our dogs and The Sato Project. By temporarily welcoming a sato into your home, you will give him or her the best chance at a successful adoption, and you will help us save more dogs.

While the best case scenario is that an adoptive family is waiting for every dog at the time we send them on their "Freedom Flight" from Puerto Rico, that is not always possible. In these cases we often rely on foster families to shelter and care for our dogs while they await a forever home.

Some of our dogs have been abused or neglected. They are frightened, and need to learn that not all humans are bad. Imagine being able to foster that change in a dog’s life: you might witness the first time they wag their tail, play with a toy, or stop trembling when touched. It is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and you will help ensure that the dog will be ready to win over a new forever family.

We are always in need of fosters in the following states: NY, NJ, CT, PA, MD, and NH. The Sato Project provides a leash, harness, and crate. We will also cover any necessary veterinary expenses, and are available to talk through or provide help with any behavioral issues that may arise as your guest adjusts to their new surroundings.
