The Sato Project runs almost entirely on the passion and dedication of our many wonderful volunteers. Are you interested in joining our team? Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Foster a Sato:  We are always in need of fosters in the following states: NY, NJ, CT, PA, MD, and NH. The Sato Project provides a leash, harness, and crate. We cover any necessary veterinary expenses. For more information visit our Foster a Sato page. We also need fosters in Puerto Rico.

  • Transporting dogs: We are often in need of volunteers to transport our dogs from NJ area airports to their foster homes in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. However, outside of transporting dogs to foster homes, we currently have enough volunteers to cover the needs at the airports when a plane with dogs land.

  • Creative skills: Do you like to edit videos about dogs, write captions for social media, or put together graphics that align with our brand? Tell us about your skills and passions and perhaps you can help The Sato Project tell our stories and spread the word about our work.

  • Hold a community fundraiser: Not in the New York area but still want to help? No problem! You can help us rescue more dogs by holding a community fundraiser. Community events such as bake sales, lemonade stands, or house parties can help us raise vital funds and spread the word about our work.

  • Volunteering in Puerto Rico: Due to the nature of dog rescue and the risks involved we do not have an ongoing volunteer program in Puerto Rico. We also do not have a physical shelter space that allows visitors, as our dogs are housed in private veterinary clinics. At this time, the only volunteer opportunity we have in Puerto Rico is during our temporary week-long to single day pop up spay/neuter and/or vaccine clinics. We specifically need Spanish-speaking volunteers. If you speak Spanish and would like to learn more about how to volunteer at one of these events, please email the address listed below.
